Commissioned Flower Keepsakes & Botanical Artwork

We sometimes accept a small number of commission pieces using flowers that hold meaning for you. These can be wedding flowers, farewell and memorial flowers, or seasonal flowers grown here at Home Farm Flowers & Crafts. Each piece is designed slowly and carefully, using preservation methods that suit the blooms you bring us, and finished as a one-off keepsake to be kept for years.

Because this is specialist, time-intensive work, we take on a limited number of commissions at any one time. If you’d like to enquire, please get in touch and we’ll let you know what’s possible and our current lead times.

What we can create

We offer pressed flower designs (a flat lay style) and 3D box frame arrangements. Some commissions suit pressing best, others suit a 3D arrangement depending on flower shape, thickness and condition. If you’re not sure, that’s completely fine — we can advise once we’ve seen a few photos.

Pressed pieces are often a lovely choice for delicate flowers and petals, and they work beautifully as a framed artwork. 3D pieces work well when you’d like to keep the shape of certain blooms and create a dimensional arrangement.

If there are enough flowers to work with, we can sometimes create a small additional piece alongside the main keepsake. We’ll always discuss this with you first.

How it works

Step 1: Enquire with a few photos and a short description of what you’re hoping for. Tell us the date the flowers were used and when you can get them to us.

Step 2: We confirm whether we can take the commission, suggest the best approach (pressed or 3D), and give a guide price before any work begins.

Step 3: Flowers are dropped off to us near Helensburgh, or sent by courier if that’s easier. We’ll share simple instructions so they arrive in the best possible condition.

Step 4: Preservation begins. We press and preserve what we can, and keep you updated if anything unexpected arises.

Step 5: We design the final layout and finish the piece. If you’d like a short message on the back (name, date, a few words), you can share that with us.

Step 6: Collection or delivery once complete.

Timescales

Preservation takes time. As a guide, pressed pieces usually take around 6–10 weeks and 3D pieces usually take around 8–12 weeks depending on the season and our existing workload. If you have a specific date in mind, tell us at the enquiry stage and we’ll let you know what’s realistic.

A note about flower condition

Freshness matters. The sooner flowers reach us after the event, the more we can usually save. Natural colour change is normal during preservation, and some flowers are more fragile than others. Our promise is that we’ll work with what you give us with great care, and create the most beautiful keepsake possible from the blooms that preserve well.

Pricing guide

Because every commission is different, we price based on the size of the piece, the condition and volume of flowers, and the amount of design and finishing time required.

As a guide, pressed keepsakes typically start from around £250 for smaller pieces and rise with size and complexity. Larger pressed pieces and multi-element designs are usually £350–£650.

3D box frame keepsakes typically start from around £350 and are often in the £450–£750 range depending on size, depth and complexity.

Frames are charged at cost unless you’d prefer to source your own. We can advise on suitable sizes and depths.

We will always confirm an estimated total before we proceed.

Deposits and approvals

To begin a commission, we take a deposit to secure the booking and cover initial preservation work. The deposit amount depends on the type of piece, but is usually 30% of the estimated total.

We won’t start work until the deposit is paid. Once preservation has begun, the deposit is non-refundable because it covers time already spent and materials used.

Before final sealing and framing, we can share a simple progress update and confirm the final plan. If you decide not to continue at that stage, we can pause and return what we have preserved, and only charge for work completed up to that point.

How to enquire

Please email us with a few photos of the flowers, the date they were used, when you can get them to us, and an idea of what you’re hoping for (pressed, 3D, or unsure). If you have a budget range in mind, that’s also very helpful. We’ll come back to you with what we recommend, current lead times, and an estimate.
