Care Instructions: Marimo is a low maintenance aquatic plant that prefers low to medium indirect light. In nature, Marimo live underwater (not too deep as they thrive with light). The water should be changed every 1-2 weeks. Marimo will last longer in filtered water, and will benefit from an occasional dip (24 hours) in sparkling water, as this will increase CO2 intake. Always keep them covered with water, and they may need more watering in summer months due to evaporation. Do not allow the water to get dirty. If Marimo starts to turn brown/yellow, it may be getting too much sunlight. In nature, water has a current, which enables Marimo to keep it's round shape with the constant movement, so try to mimic this natural process by moving the water in the Marimo jar or very gently rolling the Marimo between your hands when you change the water. These plants grow slowly, at a rate of about 5mm per year, contributing to their long life. Marimo is ideal for indoor use.
You can even give your Marimo a name, looking after it like a pet!
