Caring for flowers, for a longer vase life

Caring for flowers, for a longer vase life

We've had wonderful feedback from all our customers', and our own 'in-house' vase testing, that our flowers last ages! But, did you know, with a little more care, your flowers will last much longer. Here we share some of our tips, so that you can extend the vase life of your flowers. When you buy flowers from us, we have already stripped the stems and conditioned them for you. All that is left for you to do is, enjoy your flowers and look after them with our handy tips:

- If your flowers have not arrived in a vase, then trim the stems and place them in a suitable vase, but please make sure that the vase is squeaky clean. If it's dirty then it may be harbouring bacteria which could spoil the flowers;

- Place your flowers somewhere out of direct sunlight, away from fruit (the gasses from fruit could turn the flowers much quicker), and away from hot places like next to radiators, cookers etc;

- Change the water daily and rinse the stems, some stems are known as 'dirty flowers' (for example yarrow, rudbeckia, zinnia, daffodils) because they dirty the water quickly and could spoil other flowers in the arrangement;

- Recut the stems, at an angle, every few days, this takes away any ends that may be going soggy or callous over. Recutting stems will allow the flowers to continue to take up water;

- As blooms fade over, just remove them from the vase. You can still enjoy the arrangement for a long time by removing faded blooms rather than discarding the whole arrangement;

- If you have a compost bin, this is the best place to place your faded blooms;

- Finally, if you would like to return your jar/vase, we would really appreciate this as we like to recycle where we can, and we are working on a discount for anyone that returns their jars/vases to us.

We hope you enjoy your flowers as much as we have loved, choosing, growing & caring for the flowers and environment!

If you have loved your flowers, please let us know or leave a review.

Thank you,

Paula & Jeanette.
